Achieving Natural Coloration in Fish under Culture
Fish that are colored in nature often acquire faded coloration under intensive culture conditions. Experiments adding top-coated algae to the diets of ornamental fish have resulted in color enhancement. Freshwater red velvet swordtails Xiphophorus helleri, rainbowfish Pseudomugil furcatus, and topaz cichlids Cichlasoma myrnae became significantly more intensely colored when fed a diet containin...
متن کاملPathology of Myxosporea in marine fish culture
A revlew of the pathogenic impact of Myxosporea in marine fish culture is presented. At least 11 species of Bivalvulida and 7 species of Multi\~alvulida have been described in marine or brackish fish kept in different culture systems. The pathological importance of these myxosporoses is discussed, and their potential importance with the growth of culture facilities is stressed.

متن کاملRecirculating Aquaculture Tank Production Systems: Integrating Fish and Plant Culture
Recirculating aquaculture systems are designed to raise large quantities of fish in relatively small volumes of water by treating the water to remove toxic waste products and then reusing it. In the process of reusing the water many times, non-toxic nutrients and organic matter accumulate. These metabolic byproducts need not be wasted if they are channeled into secondary crops that have economi...
متن کاملImproving disease prevention and treatment in controlled fish culture
The aim of the work was to evaluate long-term results of studies focusing on improving methods for preventing and treating fish diseases using selected natural and syntetic immunomodulators and vaccines in fish culture. Simultaneously, attention is drawn to infectious or environmental threats against which appropriately composed immunoprophylaxis can be used in production cycles. Fish culture i...
